The flat, family-friendly trail along the Crooked River at the base of Smith Rock. You'll see climbers on the walls overhead, kingfishers and herons in the willows, and the iconic Monkey Face spire. Strollers can manage most of it; kids love the river access points.

Good to know

• $5/day parking at Smith Rock — arrive before 9 AM weekends.
• Public restrooms at the trailhead.
• Stay back from cliff edges; no swimming below Asterisk Pass.
