🌲 Explore Deschutes National Forest with dogs

Vast public lands, pet-friendly.

The Deschutes National Forest covers 1.6 million acres south and west of CRR, and most of it is open to off-leash dogs (with voice control). Trails range from Tumalo Falls' easy paved path to the Cascade Lakes Wilderness. A dog person's paradise.

Good to know

  • Leash required at trailheads; off-leash with voice control on most trails.
  • Always carry water — desert is unforgiving.
  • Watch for cheatgrass in summer (bad for dogs' paws and ears).

Google's editorial: Vast national forest with 5 wilderness areas, a volcanic monument & numerous recreation options.
